The blanket chest below was designed and built for a charity auction to benefit Chatham County Habitat for Humanity. It is made of locally sourced quartersawn white oak and features blacksmith made hinges and a half mortise lock. The chest is joined with hand-cut dovetails and the top has breadboard ends that add visual interest as well as act as "battens" for keeping the top flat. Other details include decorative bracket feet and cove molding that wraps the case.
