The hall tables below were made as part of a series of "floating top" tables. You can see the companion coffee table here.
Each table features a black milk-painted base made of red oak legs and maple aprons joined with pegged mortise & tenon joints. The muted base on each table along with the cross members that lift the table top were designed to showcase the top's wood & subtle curves. One table is tiger maple with walnut breadboard ends. The other table is walnut (with some wild grain and sapwood) with cherry breadboard ends. Endless variations of woods, table sizes, etc. could be derived from this design. A natural base (not painted) would be nice as well.
